Using Science Fair from Windows
If you meet these criteria: Your computer uses an EGA or VGA compatible
monitor and you are using an EPSON or HP LASERJET comptible printer, then
You can place a Science Fair Graphs & Numbers (SF) icon in Windows and
run SF by clicking on the "SF" icon. Follow these instructions:
1. Begin Windows. Open the group where you want to set up SF. For
example, if you want to run SF from your MAIN window, open that window.
2. From the File menu, choose New. The New Program dialog box appears.
3. Select the Program Item option, then OK.
4. The Program Item Properties dialog box appears. This box is used to tell
Windows where the program is located and how to run the program.
5. In the Description: field, enter Science Fair.
6. In the Command Line: field, enter C:\SF\SF.BAT. What you enter may be
slightly different according to what drive and what subdirectory you
specified to install SF.
7. Click on the Change Icon... button. A message will appear telling you
that an icon is not available. Click OK.
8. A new dialog box will appear in which you can specify what icon to use.
In the File Name: field, enter C:\SF\SCIFAIR.ICO. What you enter may be
slightly different according to what drive and what subdirectory you
specified to install SF. Click OK.
9. The Program Item Properties dialog box will appear again, and the SF
icon will appear at the bottom left of the box. Click OK. The SF icon will
now appear in Windows. To begin SF, double click on the icon. When you
end SF, you will return to Windows.
If you have problems, try creating a SF.PIF file using the Windows PIF
editor (check you Windows documentation), and experimenting with the option
fields -- particularly the memory field.
